With a membership that includes more than 7,500 surgeons, researchers and other healthcare providers, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons needed an appropriate space for holding meetings and hosting professionals from around the world.

The finished space is refined yet friendly, bright and airy, and decidedly technology-oriented. The state-of-the-art boardroom seats 18 around an expansive, wood-and-laminate conference table that bridges formal and contemporary styles. A welcoming café looks out over the City of Chicago from 21 stories high. And space-efficient workstations feel expansive, yet freed up enough space to incorporate a variety of collaborative areas where staff can meet as needed.
